BREAST POLICY

1- In our hospital, a “Successful Breastfeeding Policy” has been established in order to encourage, support and maintain breastfeeding, and there is an up-to-date written breast milk and infant feeding policy shared with both staff and parents. In our hospital, the International Law on infant formulas has been adopted and is fully implemented. Direct or indirect advertising and marketing of formula products is prohibited. Our “Baby Friendly Hospital” practices are constantly monitored by the data management system.
2- “Successful Breastfeeding and Breastfeeding Training” is given in order to equip all healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge, competencies and skills.
3- All pregnant women who apply to our institution's pregnancy outpatient clinic and their families are informed about the importance and management of breastfeeding/breast milk.
4- If the health status of the mother and the babies is suitable, support is provided to the mothers to start breastfeeding by ensuring that they contact the awning for at least one hour immediately after birth.
5- Families are supported in initiating and maintaining breastfeeding, managing common difficulties and ensuring the continuity of milk in cases where they are separated from their babies.
6-Mothers are supported in recognizing and responding to the signs their babies give when they are hungry.
7-In the first 6 months, except for medical needs, babies should be fed only with breast milk. After the sixth month, it is recommended to continue breastfeeding with complementary foods until 2 years of age and above.
8- It is ensured that mothers stay together with their babies in the same room for 24 hours.
9-Mothers are informed about the harms and risks of pacifiers and bottles in breastfed babies. It is not recommended to use pacifiers and bottles.
10- To the Breastfeeding Support Unit, which provides continuous support and care to families about breastfeeding during discharge.
11- There are lactation rooms so that breastfeeding mothers can breastfeed their babies comfortably when they come to our institution.
12- Our hospital, which aims to be an exemplary “Baby-Friendly” institution, is open to cooperation so that all health institutions can become “Baby-Friendly”.
